— COMMON QUESTIONS

Everything you need to feel confident.

How is State of the Art (SOTA) different from other programs?

Most courses teach art techniques. We teach creative thinking beyond basic art and design, using AI as a tool.

What will my child actually learn?

Most programs teach kids to follow steps.
SOTA teaches kids how to think, see and decide.

Kids will learn how to use AI as a tool rather than a crutch. How to create with real intention. And how look beyond the obvious to find something genuinely new.

These skills aren't just useful in art and design. They carry through into every part of life.

How do the courses keep children engaged?

The courses have been tested with real students, including Shelley's own sons (aged 14 and 17). Her youngest is on the autism spectrum and even he was fully engaged and loved every unit.

Each unit includes:

- Interactive Visuals and Images

- Voiceover on Every Page

- Real Use of External AI Tools

- Short Videos

- Gamified Interactions

What age is SOTA designed for?

Our units are designed for ages 8–17.

But the content isn’t limited by age.

Our units can be adapted and explored at different levels. They have been specifically curated to cater to a wide range of learners.

The language is simple.

The depth of thinking is not.

My child has never done structured art before. Will they manage?

Yes - absolutely. We assume students will have no prior knowledge. Every project offers three levels to choose from so your child always works at the right level, without feeling behind or bored.

I'm not an artist myself. Can I still support my child?

That is exactly who this is designed for. We like to think of our parents as coordinators. You don't teach. You simply hold the space. All courses are fully self-directed.

The Parent Guide at the end of each unit tells you precisely what your child has achieved. No art background needed.

Can this education count toward our homeschool records?

Yes - from day one SOTA was built with homeschool requirements in mind. Every unit includes a downloadable Parent Guide that was created specifically to support homeschool documentation, assessment and reporting evidence.

What does SOTA offer that I can't find from YouTube videos or free tutorials?

Shelley is a university trained design and multimedia specialist that has worked in the creative industry for over 25 years. She has taken complex university level concepts, and broken them down into child-friendly, engaging lessons.

All units of work give your child a complete education by way of progressive journey. From initial principles, through to a finished portfolio.
